1. maybe the root canal wasn't cleaned enough. the causes are various such as complicated canals, left-over bacteria, improper chewing inducing root fracture, even dentist's skill. anyway, there's a probability of failure in any cases while the molar tooth 's got higher chance compared to the anterior. 2. a crown for root canal treated tooth is necessary especially for the molar because after the treatment the tooth would be vulnerable. the crown strengthens the tooth and protect it from fracture. 2.1 the crown procedure is about one hour and takes two visits to complete. I hope you're going to have the re-treatment of that tooth soon and happy valentine's.
